PhD opening at Department of Electrical Engineering at University of South Carolina

My research group, Resilient System Lab, has an opening for a PhD student with graduate scholarship starting Spring 2018 in the area of diagnosis, prognosis, signal processing, and cable insulation evaluation. We are specifically researching how the cable insulation degrades by using different reflectometry methods. The project is funded by the Department of Energy and will include a mix of data acquisition, data analysis, algorithm design, and verification.  The student may also work on other projects in related areas based on the student’s interests.  The student will join the Department of Electrical Engineering. Strong quantitative skills, work ethic, communication skills, and the ability to work independently are required.  A prior master degree in engineering is preferred.  Interested prospective students can contact me at zhangbin@cec.sc.edu.  More information on my research group can be found at
